R8 adds a more printable W grille with 1.0 mm webs, USB-C shell support, a six-tab cable guide and easier battery access. The complete package includes 27.2 mm baseline and 26.2 mm candidate CAD, native Fusion files, STL/3MF, cut profiles, coupons and a ten-page illustrated build guide.

Materials and process

23 rigid PA12 parts per configuration; eight final-size cast-polyurethane masters; one aluminum play key; one optical PMMA guide; eight cut-sheet pieces. STL/3MF includes process references as well as printed parts. Follow the BOM and illustrated guide; coupons, compensation, finishes and physical performance require first-article validation.

Original build scope

What to build first

Start with the 27.2 mm baseline and its process coupons. It has 23 rigid printed parts plus separate cast, machined, optical and cut-sheet parts. Use one complete configuration and the matched BOM. The 26.2 mm candidate requires its relocated microphone and thinner seal; physical fit and performance remain to be qualified.

Confirm before the affected stage

Before the first print: Print bore/web, cable-guide and control-stop coupons in the intended material and orientation. Establish compensation, support cleanup, finish buildup, pilot preparation and screw torque.Print supplier / mechanical
Before functional assembly: Measure actual switch contact, force, return and PTT end presses. Qualify USB insertion/cycling and support stiffness; route the full harness without pinching or straining the battery.Mechanical / electrical
Before choosing 26.2 mm: Use the complete slim configuration and qualify the relocated microphone, 0.43 mm installed foam plus 0.14 mm PSA, and the nominal 0.30 mm microphone-to-pouch gap. CAD clearance is not a swelling allowance.Mechanical / battery supplier
